Who are hourly employees?
Hourly employees are generally defined as anyone who is paid on an hourly basis for their work. In general, hourly employees are paid the same hourly wage for every hour worked for up to 40 hours during the same work week.
If an employee works more than 40 hours in the same work week, that employee should be eligible for overtime for every hour worked beyond 40 hours. But there are some exceptions to these rules as outlined in the Federal Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
